I need a recipe! fried bread and gravy?

I once lived with a woman whom made the most fantastic dinner! She made fried bread and a thick gravy with beef in it... maybe stew meat? I dont know but i would love the recipe if anyone knows what i'm talking about! Thank you SO much!
