Why is there even a debate about creation and evolution when?

we have proven evolution to be as true a theory as the theory of gravity, while there remains absolutely zero evidence for creationism? why has creationism become a political movement, and since when has "whats popular with fundies" meant "whats true"? ask anyone from europe or asia... they know evolution is a solid theory... it seems like america has some catching up to do... and by the way there is no conspiracy against creationism... go on creationists submit your ideas for peer review in the scientific community... you will be given a fair chance and if your research doesnt hold up to evidence and testing it will be shot down .
