Can i substitute another fabric for fleece, like flannel, for a tie blanket?

Fleece doesn't ravel which is why blankets are easy to make with it. Flannel will shred and not hold up at all for a tie blanket. You can make a simple quilt out of flannel- layer flannel, batting, flannel and stitch it together, put an edge on it. Conny L.
